We are on Facebook.

  • A center that recognizes families are children’s first and most enduring educators.
  • A warm and friendly environment where children can feel safe, valued and secure.
  • A place where children can gain problem-solving skills, social skills, and build their self-esteem.
  • A play-based program where children can learn all the skills necessary for later life.
  • A program that supports the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all children and strives to meet their needs.
  • A place to find resources and make connections with other professionals who provide services for children and families.
Learn Through Play

We believe that being successful at play means being successful at life.
Literacy
Literacy activities with children such as rhymes, songs, conversations and story-telling are essential in developing the ability to become readers.
Numeracy

Number concepts are gained through puzzles, finger plays, sorting activities, etc.
  Social Interaction
Children will expand vocabulary and problem-solving skills through dramatic play and other group activities.

Community Involvement
Based on family needs and requests, guest speakers and community role models will be invited to visit and share their talents and knowledge.
Creativity

Pre-writing skills first develop from creative activities such as drawing and painting and other hands-on (often messy) activities.
Diversity & Inclusion
Suwilaawks Strong Start Centre will focus on sharing family culture and traditions in an inclusive environment.
Suwilaawks Strong Start Centre is funded by the Ministry of Education with support from Kermode Friendship Society, Coast Mountains School District, Make Children First Network, Success by 6 Northwest and NWCC ECE Department.
